Sunny Hollow

Bridge over Stream at Sunny Hollow in Colchester

Located in Colchester behind Costco, Sunny Hollow Park is a very popular network for beginner and intermediate riders. Both the Blueberry and East loops are ideal trails for beginners and easy to access. Intermediate and advanced riders can descend into a number of ravines and access further plateaus. Pros Near Burlington and Colchester, fun terrain with many ravines and bridges. Cons fairly limited riding area


Saxon Hill

The Saxon Hill trail network in Essex is a classic. The trails are characterized as smooth and flowy singletrack. This popular network is home to the Flo, FreeFall, and Extendo trails. Extendo is a beginner trail. Flo offers multiple loops within itself that are appropriate for a variety of users and skill levels. FreeFall is a varied jump trail with multiple lines that cater to advanced and expert riders.

Catamount is closed for for the Fall and will reopen once the trails get covered with hard snow. Call first I was misled by there trail report which showed open trails but is not updated in the Fall.

Rikert Nordic Center

Rikert Nordic Center is open to the public from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm every day mid November – end of March. The Center is located in the heart of the Green Mountain National Forest on the Campus of Bread Loaf School of English in the Town of Ripton, VT.  We welcome you to come and explore this incredible forest and field terrain either on skis, snowshoes, or on a FatBike.
